Sunday afternoon at Bullards Beach State Park Gary N6BLU and John KK6GUK inhabited a picnic table with a radio and a couple of antennas.
What’s worth noting is that John has been very busy interfacing the POTA powers that establish listed parks. He’s had two added in Coos County just this year. Anyway, those are his stories to tell when he gets around to it. (Right bro?)

What I learned in conversation was that having a double park to call from really improves the attention “Spotters” give to the QSO. That means they generated several pileups and lots of contacts in a relatively short period. In this case that day, it was Bullards State Park and the Oregon Coastal Trail.
But then Gary suggested that a three-fer was possible if a station activated just over the dune, near the water. That session would be able to call Bullards, the Coastal Trail and the Oregon Shores parks numbers.
Imagine that activation?
Anyway, I’ve updated our POTA page. You can find this page (and others) in main menu under “Get Connected“.
Coos County is blessed with 15 parks to activate. A place is close by to everyone.
Let me know if I missed any that belong on the list?
